Do they need full sun? I feel like I've had mixed success (grow bag method) and am trying to figure out if it is that I'm giving them too much sun or too little.
Not full. 6-8 hours aok. BUT if you're growing in a bag, it helps to keep the sides rolled down, so there is maximum sun exposure on the soil/plant itself. You roll up the sides as the plant grows, filling it with soil or hay.
